(mai ales despre copii) A plânge cu glas tare (de cele mai multe ori fără motiv). 3) fam. (despre persoane) A scoate sunete puternice şi prelungi; a ţipa; a striga; a răcni. /<lat. ragere

ráge (rág, răgít), vb. – A mugi, a răcni, a behăi. lat. ragĕre (Densusianu, Hlr., 197; Puşcariu 1427; REW 7077), cf. v. fr. raire. Din sec. XVII, tendinţa este de a asimila conjug. cu cea a vb. în -ire: formele part. ras şi ale gerunziului răgînd, pe care le citează Tiktin, sînt puţin folosite. – Der. răget, s.n. (behăit, muget), cu var. răget, ragăt, rare; rangăt, s.n. (zbierat, muget), var. cu infix nazal; ramăt, s.n. (muget), negreşit altă var., deşi dificil de explicat fonetic (după Tiktin, din freamăt, care nu este nici el mai uşor).
